Blanks won't launch a grenade...the recoil is horrendous at the shoulder. Also the blast into your face is like a small shotgun blast. Yes, it's in the book but firing like a mortar is preferable. Prone is also in the book... At 1:23 you see him fire from the kneeling and you can clearly see the barrel lash.
