WTS 1943 Long Branch No 4 Mk I* .303 rifle. Matching numbers, beautiful like new 2 groove bore, excellent headspace. A few scratches and repairs on the buttstock, otherwise vg+ condition. Nice C Broad Arrow stamp on receiver ring. A nice example. I believe the wood to be maple. More pics available on request, just send email addy.
$525 shipped
Regards,
Badger

My assessment is "put together". A 43 should probably have the MkII flip sight and be stocked in black walnut with the forestock serialized to the receiver. He doesn't show this area, not any wood markings in his ad and makes no reference to them, so either the wood is sanded, or it's a refurb with replacement wood. The forestock looks to be either maple, birch, or most probably north american beech, while the handguards seem to be walnut. No rifles left the factory with mismatched wood, but it was common practice at refurb. The butt has a repair I associate with the UK and/or India. No Ishy screw, so probably UK.
I think it's over priced at $525. I'd pay $525 for a nearly unissued rifle, but this doesn't fit the bill by a huge margin. I see unissued Longbranches regularly enough, and I think Badger can vouch for that. We ust arranged for a nearly unissed DCRA marked Longbranch service rifle to go to his collection in FAR better shape than this one and for less money too.
