    mags with no Markings

I have 3 mags that are perfect to my eye when compared to 30 round G.I. mags,,,,They have NO markings...I just ran 90 rounds thru then with no problems....Were 30 rd splitbacks ever made for G.I.s with no markings? Charlie...There looks to be fine grinding or sanding marks right where the marking should be...Could I send one to a 30 cal Garu to let one of you look at it>?

My understanding is that all Military mags were marked, but here are some unmarked commercial 30s that were as good as GI. I have one in my collection. Things to look for are very sharp rear corners on the rear edges, and a flat back panel. Many commercial are slightly bowed. Check it on a flat surface. Another thing is smooth welds inside the back edge. Mine had a good body, but I replaced the spring with a new USGI just to be sure.

If you can take a picture of the back from a side angle and the bottom, I can give you a better read.

Correct, they were no US GI contracts for unmarked magazines. There were several purchases by South American Countries for magazines in the US. They were provided by people in this business and were unmarked. There are still claims that there were unmarked US GI magazines. The people just do not know the history of the past.

Some dealers started advertising them falsely, as original military, to sell them in the Shotgun News in the 1970's. There were also ads that they were secret production for the CIA. Simple fact is if you provide the CIA with secret material and then advertise it as such, you will be prosecuted.

That total nonsensical thought continues today.
