Welcome. If we can get your thread moved over to the Carbine forum, they can help you. Very knowledgeable group. You'll have to be more specific with the info you want. Pics are a +.

Need more info , like serial # and or pictures. IBM basically made about 340,000 carbines from mid 1943 - Mid 1944. IBM also made barrels for the Government barrel program. IBM had one semi famous sub contractor that they had a lot of problems with - Auto Ordnance (makers of the Thompson). THE I.B.M. on the gun, in case you don't know is the IBM computer company that still exists today as one of the worlds largest companies (ranked 20th in US based on sales revenue). What else do you want to Know?

(OK guys... back to the new guy.... Badger will take care of George if he has to...)
Brad, welcome to the forum. You will find these guys have forgotten more about M-1 Carbines than I ever knew (of course, some of these ole' farts are close to going senile, too!)
Ask anything you want and collectively someone has the right answer for you (you just got to figure out who has the wrong answers)
To start, IBM produced a little over 345,00 carbines between mid-1943 to mid-1944. They were one of 10 (ok 11 if you count IP) who produced them during WWII.
To help you more, you need to post some specific about your carbine. Start with the serial number and any major markings you can see. Of course you may not recognize some of the marks collectors look for, but just describe what you see, post a few pictures and ask questions! These guys LOVES pictures!
Now for the serious part of this - it is VERY addictive. And once you start, it is not easy to stop! I even divorced my wife so I could have more time and money to devote to carbines! (ok, thats NOT what I told the judge!)
So sit back, kick up your feet and start posting and asking questions... your going to get addicted, but who cares???

Welcome Brad,
Click on the Carbine Club link on the top left of this page.
You can download a Data Sheet and fill it in. It will help you ID your parts.
It's also the refuge for carbine junkies who want to share and research these weapons. No better information available than being a member and sifting thru the newsletters.
Cheers,
