Excellent choice for Police Depts and prison guards. I believe the USMC was the only service to use them ? Never could understand the 12 round magazine ?

Better than 10 I suppose, utilising spare Thompson kit to fit probably

We had a really early serial number Reising at Warminster that came over for wartime trials. I fired it several times plus another privately owned one in the US. It was a bit like a Lanchester - in that after the usual hardware I was used to, like rackety Stens and Rolls Royce Sterlings plus the odd Thompson, the Reising felt like a gentlemans SMG. If there is such a thing as a gents SMG!!!!!

There was a 20 round magazine pouch made for the Reising and different from Thompson 20 round pouch from the location of the snaps.
It has been reported that the interchangeably of parts among the Reising was very unsatisfactory

The varying bolt lengths hindered lock-up capability. Interchangeability was a major weak point. Along with parts breakage and its reluctance to cycle when dirt/debris were introduced in battle conditions, the Reising's war-time reputation suffered greatly. In cleaner post-war applications (police, guard), the performance was more acceptable.

I was lucky enough once to fire one just before it was crushed. It did in fact have a 20 round Thompson mag if my memory serves me correctly. It was in the 70's!!

The 20 round Thompson magazine is "double stacked" whereas the Reising 20 round magazine is single column (like the Sten and US M3 SMG' magazines)

The Thompson mag is not interchangeable with the Reising.
Reising 12 round mags are single stack, but the 20 round mags are double stack.
Here is a picture I took of the mag spines, but it also shows the stepped followers.
