    Barrel Band Question

Got one of the last few Underwoods that CMPicon sent out. Turns out it was an Austrian LGKV marked rifle. The Type II barrel band is marked JM Q. Can't find info on it. Can someone comment on it - subcontractor, what production guns it would be correct for, etc. Was it particular to the Bavarian/Austrian guns, only?

It appears to be in excellent condition with the exception of the upper hand guard. It has the deep, almost black, finish that (I read somewhere) was put on the Bavarian/Austrian rifles. Any one care to comment on the finish?

    Thanks in advance.

If it is marked JM Q it is a cut down T3 or bayonet lug band.
If I remember correctly it was made by J.M. Mueller for Quality Hardware on a spare parts contract. Not 100% sure on the name of Mueller, but it sounds right off my head.

And yes on your identification too.

Yes, the Bavarians and Austrians cut down a lot of type 3 bands.
