Star marked type 38
I recently saw this rifle, which was identified as a Type 38. It appears to have no mum, but rather a star on the receiver. anyone able to identify this rifle and arsenal?

Mukden arsenal in China, isn't it?

Well, I was thinking Jinsen, but the general consensus on other boards is that it is a training rifle.

Ach, So much for my WAG!
Now that I actually look at the photo, it must be a training rifle. Bolt is WAY different than a type 38. Bolt stop screw is a pin.
So, just out of curiousity, are the folk on this board who would know just slow to respond or do you reckon they already made input elsewhere? I just made a guess w/o references or anything just to get conversation going. I'm bad about that at times, but I hate to see a question just sitting w/o response! Seems rude or callous.Besides I don't mind being wrong, just as long as we're learning something.
So any more photos of this artifact to share?
BTW, Jinsen is the star, Mukden is the two concentric circles w/ the three radiating lines between the two. Books- wonderful things, eh?

I don't know anything about training rifles. But isn't that safety on upsidedown? Bill

Well, in this case this is a T38 style training rifle. Has nothing to do with writing a book.
And yes the safety is Kinda' upside down.
And yes, even more, this has been posted elsewhere.
