VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE.........
I recently had the absolute privelige of reading and watching a post from my old pal Bruce in Oz (BinO) featured in the FN-FAL thread titled WHY YOU SHOULD NOT TALK TO THE POLICE. Social occasions excepted, but with due caution of course.
I would advise EVERY gun or licence holder in the world to read and re-read and then re-read AGAIN this important thread.
And if you don't and for reasons unknown to you things DO go pear shaped, there's something quite satisfying to be able to answer to a smug Barrister who questions your cheek for NOT speaking to them when you are speaking and answering in court....... You can answer truthfully and honestly '.....he told me that I didn't have to say anything...., so guess what....., I didn't.....!
Now, before you do anything else, a big hand for BinO and go and read his post NOW. Tomorrow might be too late...............

Your buddy advocate that if he witnesses a crime or becomes the victim of a crime too?
Different thing if the local Constabulary is questioning your ownership of property though. Lot of 'em seem to think you must be guilty of something if you exercise your rights.
Spelling and Grammar count!

Listen to wisdom
True in the states as well.
If you speak to a policeman and he decides you were lying, in most cases you can be charged with some crime. So yes, in most cases say nothing, answer nothing give them nothing.
sad but true.

People forget this as well, Keep your mouth shut while in custody. The day or two one may be in custody before making bail is the first place the prosecutor goes for evidence. ALL your phone calls are recorded and around here you can spend all day on that phone. The prosecutor's office listens to EVERY second of your recored calls. Your guard is down when you're in that situation and talking to family.
