WTK: WWII JAP Box with US Web Gear

I have a JAP WWII Box that was brought home by a Marine from WWII. I would like to ID the box and maybe it's use. The son of the Marine told me his dad kept this box in his closet and he always remembers the WEB gear being in there along with the Medals his dad was awarded. He had his dad's medals mounted with his burial Flag and stripes.

Any one have an idea what this box was used for? It did have some dividers that were knocked out.

If anyone wants me to send them pictures that I have taken of these items please PM me. One pouch has a date of 1945 with the company of "The American Awning Co.". that made it

Looks to me as if it is some kind of munitions or equipment crate. Like 2 artillery/mortar rounds or separate pieces of radio equipment, etc.

What are the dimensions?

The outside dimensions of this box is 16.25" x 9.0" x 8.0" high. I did not include the wood bracket holding the rope handles or the wood handle in the back of the box.

I do want to try to find out what the script says and maybe put a value on this box.

I was given this information on the PA Firearms Owners Forum:

Box is a container for ignition powder tube/ignition parts(direct translation) for Type II Modified 1 Depth Charge.
Serial Number 1815.
Built in Aich prefecture somewhere. Sometime in March 1944.


Its a box that contained Type95 Depth charge Fuse for JIN.
Type II depth charge is an older type Depth charge. Put in to service in 1942.
Its the drum shaped, Weigh 160kg, of which 100kg was Type 88 charge(TNT I believe).
Due to slow rate of sinking(2m/s), it was replaced by Type III depth charge in 1944(shaped like elongated bomb with fin).
but it remained in production until 1945
