Type Two Rifle...
Guys: Normally, I collect French and German Guns, but lately I have been finding some reasonably priced Japanese Rifles and Carbines. I work in a Gun Store, so this helps!!
I got this from a Vet of Occupation Troops in Mongomery AL some time ago, it is matched, except the front end is a different number. He told me the guns were disassembled in piles, and he was allowed to get one. The bolts were in one pile, the rears in another, etc. He was able to find the bolt, but someone else got the front end. The dust covers were also piled up, and he just took one, not knowing they were also numbered...
I was happy to buy it from him, as it was cheap, and later, I found the head space to be fine, so I have shot it some....
I installed a US M 1917 sling, since I like the way they look on Japanese Rifles!!

Real nice find, especially getting it from the vet. Maybe you should document how the vet found it and brought it back.

All I know is he was in the Occupation Troops in Japan, and US Army Infantry Division, I do not know which one...He had a Type 99 Long Rifle, and a Nambu, and a lot of other non-military stuff..

All my dad brought back from the PTO was some mysterious photos of some attractive Japanese ladies. He took that story with him.
