Did you inadvertently accept your browser's offer to "Translate this page?"
With Google Chrome anyway it's a pretty small nondescript popup that could quickly be dismissed with an "OK" without much thought.

Once in awhile when I go to eBay, for some reason I see odd prices and then notice I'm on the UK, AU, or the Canadian site. One time it was to check on an item on my "watch list" and it had been translated to Spanish, but was the exact same item. I don't know if this was caused by my browser, or by eBay trying to determine my location through the IP address. It hasn't happened recently, though. - Bob

- No, not as far as I am aware. It seemed to happen after I had looked at specific items and "Returned to search results".
I seemed to stay on eBayUK but it appeared to get confused as to whether I was an English or German person after I was either looking at German items or using a German word.
