Arrow Markings on an Enfield No 2 Mk I cylinder

Why would this cylinder be marked in this fashion? Comments please it's on a 1939 revolver.

Is there a serial number on the cylinder? Does it match the gun number and is the font consistent. I suspect there may be another old serial number under the arrows.

I can't see any burnished number myself, but (is it just my eyes), if you look at the leading edge of the forward arrow, it seems to point towards an arching Mark that runs across that chamber?
Not a crack I hope!

Revolver is all matching and the fonts on the serial numbers appear the same. It's enough for me to stay away from it.
