    Magazines,lanyards,patents and so on.....

As I once said,"I don't know anything about lanyards but I will post some info that maybe some of you can use,I have a data base of some patents in my old 98 pc,dug it out and poked through it some what, can't put in my new Vista pc,not compatible, anyway here goes,1st. of all pat #'s help if you have other related info.,couple examples. 1. item is put on market but patent not applied til a few years afterwards,USPATOFF. FAQ/Tutorial section states it could take 10 yrs. even after a speedy application before issue,1 record stated Co. had been closed for 5yrs. before Pat. issued. Now,an item may not have an equiv. U.S. Pat#,could be Britishicon.Germanicon or any country,U.S. Pat.OFF only has U.S. and some British equiv's on line.Colt was a very smart business man,he had Pat.Atty's on staff, plus some were noted gun designers also and played a part in the deigning of Colt's line of guns.Browning working with Fab'Nat' of Herstal Belgiumicon and Colt in U.S. Colt bought a license to improve JB's automatic pistol designs.now we come to magazines, the "box mag" was designed by Louis Diss, sold it to Remington and up til early 1900's everybody making box mags paid a royalty to Remington for ea. one made til pat. ran out in early 1900's.
I could find no lanyard ref. in searches except fo remarks by British Small Arms div. did not like the the looks of 2 or 3 mags dangling from the chest, they also told Springfield Arsenal that they thought 45 cartridge should be heavier and slower,Should have made a note of that but search produced 904 hits and on dial up it takes 10 min. or better to load and read one pat'section..

I bought copies one of over 500 patents, several copies of applications for Colt Ammunition, didn't dawn on me at the time that ammo designs were patented, but hink of .25 ACP,.32ACP.,,38ACP and .45ACP. As to the Army and the .45ACP,Colt had it on the market for a few years before the Army adopted it,one section said Colt kind of designedcartridges and built guns around them,I always thought the 6.35mm and 7.65mm forms were on the market first.

Anybody got any patent numbers, issue dates or applcation dates for mags or lanyards or loops ? 2/20/1917 that J. peppers noted brought up a gang of hits, haven't had time to chase them all out.
