Today I brought some Hornady 160gn RN for my 6.5 x 284 for a shooting trip planned to thin the ranks of eee awws and ships of the desert. (I have used them before in my rifle)
Anyway I grabbed a packet that said Carcano only (wait) hmmmm I said I asked the GS if I could look at the ADI powder booklet to double check, yep there it was Hornady 160gn RN AR 2217 50 ~55 grains OAL 2.980"no worries as I had loaded a few at home from an old packed I had.
So I got to thinking and thought I will check the packet (I was home now 30klms from the GS) ahhh looky here .268" not .264".
So I rang the GS and talked to them swapped it out for another packet of 168gn 308 A Max but had I not looked at the packet I may have had a disaster, that's if they fitted in the neck of a re-sized case.
Anyway learned a good lesson to read the label correctly, Oh yes! I was having a blonde day as I picked up a packet of Hornady Moly coated 308 as well and had to swap that out to, can you believe I had just got the all clear from my optometrist about my needing new glasses! geez some days are just like that...........Information
