Books by Cornelius Ryan
I searched through and couldn't find any references to the work of Cornelius Ryan, so I thought I would mention this excellent author. Some of his more memorable books have been made into films ("The Longest Day" regarding D Day and "A Bridge Too Far" regarding Operation Market Garden and the struggle for Arnhem), but he also wrote a very credible book about the Battle for Berlin ("The Last Battle"). Ryan interviewed hundreds, if not thousands, of survivors of each campaign, from soldiers in the field and civilians caught up in the devastation to generals. His books have inspired me to take my family on a history tour of Europe, culminating with a visit to Arnhem in time to attend the yearly remembrance for the fallen.

I have his "The Last battle" as well. Good book!
So I can't spell, so what!!!
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

The description he gives of the frantic face-to-face fighting between British paratroopers and German troops at Arnhem is harrowing. "The Last Battle" is in my top 10 non-fiction books of all time, as is "The Bridge Too Far" and "The Longest Day".
