GP1890, GP1890/23 or GP11
Years ago at a gun show I had bought a charger load with 7.5 swiss cartridges. I am assuming this is not the GP11 ammo that I buy for my K31.
I am using the charger with my K31 and GP11 rounds but I have kept the original cartridges. the headstamp is D 5 S
24
My understanding from my searching is that this is : It was produced in May 1924. The "D" stands for "Dornach" and the "S" stands for Soluthorn.
I want to confirm what type is this round? GP1890, GP1890/23 or GP11?
Can I fire this in my 1889 Schmidt-Rubin? I have never fired this gun

If the bullet tips are pointed, they are GP11. If they are rounded they are GP90/03. If they are rounded and paper patched, they are GP90.
The Swiss say that GP11 is to be fired in 1889 rifles in emergency wartime only. The pressure is much higher than the GP90 and the bolt locking lugs are not as strong.
I would recommend you do not shoot them in an 1889.
