Info Wanted on M3 Sniperscope Please...
Hello Everyone:
I don't know anything about the M1 Carbine but I have an M3 Sniperscope which I understand was used with the M1 Carbine so here seems like the best place to make some enquiries.
I have owned this item for about 30 years and, other than it's a "cool thing" I never did anything with it. It appears pretty much complete and includes the 6 Volt power pack and the connecting cable. The only thing I don't have is the cable that goes from the power pack to the battery.
I have no idea whatsoever whether it works or not but nothing appears broken and the switch in the pistol grip handle clicks nicely and the two rheostats on the light unit operate smoothly. The pistol grip is mounted to the Telescope and the Light Unit is mounted to the Telescope as well. I do not know if the mount for the M1 Carbine is on the unit.
I make NO representations electrically. I never got around to applying electrons because I didn't know how to connect the cables and also a lack of time and interest. Now I am going through all the treasures I acquired in life and deciding which ones are "keepers" and what can be sent to someone else's basement.
As a collector of many things (but not firearms) I know this is a great item, mainly because it's all there and nothing busted.
ANy ball-part ideas on what it's worth before I find out on eBay???

The one you have is configured as a snooperscope. To use it as a sniperscope on a carbine, the scope with the light source are dismounted from the snooperscope bracket and mounted on a M3 mounting bracket (worth about $400) and a light switch handle is mounted on the underside of the carbine stock. I suggest posting a set of pictures here to give people an idea of just what parts you have. A complete system including the case, mounting bar and the spare tool roll with the tools is worth between $1200 and $2000.
