Also after I read your reply, I discovered that the carbine club new web site is up and running. It has a vey good page on trigger housings, and specifically mentions numbers stamped on the bottom of Winchester housings. I doubt any one will want this housing for a restoration because of it he lack of a clear w mark.

Look inside at the hole where the safety arm of the trigger goes through to the safety button. Is it a nice oval or is it more like a 3 leaf clover? If 3 lobed, then it is definitely Winchester.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

You'll often see an o stamped on Win parts too. I've read it stands for Olin.
The more important issue for collectors is the finish and machining marks present on the part. Looks like it's refinished?

The housing has the clover shaped hole in it. Yes it is refinished. I built it up with mixed parts for a shooter grade carbine. I probably took it out of a carbine years ago that I was upgrading to correct parts. If it was marked W I would offer it up for sale. Thanks for the replies.
