Italian Mannlicher Carbine
Hello, I am a newbie and recently was gifted an old mannlicher carbine. The rifle appears to be Italian as I can make out some writing and what appears to be a crest on the buttstock with the word Verni on it. The entire rifle is painted black...is that typical? I was hoping someone could give me more info on the rifle. Thank you.

Welcome, jagradar!
Black paint is rather odd.. Can you post or link to some pictures? There's much more to know about your carbine before we can nail down just exactly what it is.

If it is Italian, and you strip off the paint, I think you might discover that the word is ´"Terni" - an Italian arsenal. But jmoore is right, we need more info!
