Golani/Galil Sporter
Well I suppose this would be the best forum to post this.
I've seen the Century Arms Golani/Galil Sporters advertised in Shotgun News and on the net. They LOOK interesting. Has anyone actually handled, or better yet fired one of these? They kind of remind me of the Korean Daewoo rifles. I seem to remember something about being able to modify M-16/AR-15 magazines to work with them. Something to play with while I CONTINUE to await my 9mm conversion parts from Rock River Arms?
Thanks for any input!

Some of them with the ORF milled receiver (GALXXXX serial numbers) had soft ejectors due to bad heat treatment, and headspace would grow rapidly. The newer receivers (GLNXXXX) are cast but seem to be better. They are well put together and nicely finished, and my GAL receivered one has been flawless for about 100 rounds. Maybe not a lot of rounds, but I see no wear at all on mine, and it is surprisingly accurate. I would jump on them real quick, they are a bargain and will be gone in a few weeks with a resultant rise in price. Check out UZI Talk Forums

Does it by any chance give you flashbacks to your days in the South African Army?
You should make a road trip out here and shoot the Berger SW Nationals with us. I've got a rifle or two you can borrow.

Well I went ahead and ordered one Monday. We had to call around to find someone who actually had them in stock. J&G Sales did but it's going to be about two weeks before it ships due to their surge in business. I'll let yall know how it shoots.

I left the SADF before the R4 was phased in. I did shoot a fully auto R6 back in 1992 when I went back for a visit, a good friend of mine made Colonel in the South African Police force, and we spent a day playing with Semtex, P4, Cordex and a couple of other toys..
If I make a road trip I'll bring my own! Just don't have enough time to go visit the wife's family and do other things.
