Import marks?
Other than Vet "bring backs" why would a surplus rifle lack any import stamps?
I have 2 Arisakas that I'm certain were "brought back" because I got them from a friends Grandfather who was in the Pacific in WWII. He also had flags and other items. I also have the Serb 1924, an M38 Carcano, Mk 5 Enfield, and an Argentine Mauser that have no markings. I bought the No.5 in 1974 from a long time collector so it is most likely a "mail order" pre '68. The rest of my Milsurps have import markings.
Would the un-stamped guns have came to the US before the 1968 law?
Thanks!

Most Arisakas are bring backs . A pre 1898 made rifle should not have an import stamp . As stated any pre 68 . Also some times they just miss getting stamped at the importer , I have a few I got straight from an importer with no stamp .
