Information on Star Model B German Contract pistols- Safety Problem?

    Hello all,

I recently received a Star Model B from my Grandfather. The piece is Germanicon proofed with a Waffenampt WaAD20, has no import mark, serial number range is 253xxx indicating June 6th, 1944 delivery, has never been refinished and has FPatr08 on the left-hand side of the slide. I have included all the information because I am having what some are calling a problem with my pistol. I can't apply the safety without pulling back on the hammer. Some have said this is only a problem with the Russianicon rebuilds. The pistol has been in my family for a little over 60 years now. Grandpa thought it was the way the pistol was manufactured and just kept the hammer half cocked with the safety on. Is the pistol broken?
