I'm cleaning up a Saginaw stock for a friend, and the sling recess has what looks like "TRIMBLE" in small letters along the top, with TN right under that, and a large "I" in the middle of the sling recess. The stock also has the receiver serial number in 1/4"-3/8" size numbers "3512XXX" right where your nose would rest while sighting, filled in with white paint, and a faint ".U." at an angle under the number. There is the usual crossed cannon cartouche on the right side in front of the sling/oiler hole, faint and double stamped. The bottom of the pistol grip has a "0" stamp.
Tried to convince him the U meant unserviceable, and I'd give him $200 for it, but no dice. Who do you think put the serial no. on? What do the other stamps mean??
