    OT Military hand salute

I'm sorry this is another off topic post and I promise to shut up after this.

I know there are a lot vets on this forum so I know this news may be of interest to them. Thanks to changes in the FY09 National Defense Authorization Act, active military members not in uniform and veterans can now render the military hand salute at the playing of the National Anthem, passing of the colors, raising and lowering of the flag.

"The military salute is a unique gesture of respect that marks those who have served in our nation's armed forces," said then Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. James B. Peake. "This provision allows the application of that honor in all events involving our nation's flag."
