Remington 513T Safety Issue
Hello all,
This is my first post here, so please be nice to the FNG Nice site, I'm really looking forward to looking around and getting to know everyone.
I recently came into possession of a Remington model 513T Matchmaster, and I have a question. When the gun is cocked, with the bolt fully closed, the safety will not fully engage. The safety goes back a little more than halfway, and then stops. It is possible to disengage it by pulling hard on the trigger. Only when the bolt is fully open does the safety fully engage. I find this very strange, but I don't have a manual detailing how to disassemble the rifle fully or troubleshoot such a problem. I should mention that the rifle came without a magazine, and apparently is missing the ejector, but I don't think that this would interfere with the operation of the safety. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Nic

I own one, but not a gunsmith. To remove the bolt, open it then pull and hold the trigger and it should slide out. Hope you can see the problem from there.

Hi Phillip-
Thanks for the reply. I figured out how to get the bolt out and how to remove the rifle from the stock. I just can't figure out the problem from there.

I just replaced my safety, I quess you can call it the safety sear? Mine would not work at all. I did not see the problem you are haveing allthough I never tried to engage the safety with the bolt uncocked. I will try tonight to see what mine does.

Remington 513
The Remington 513 rifle has a trigger adjustment screw underneath the trigger mechanism. If not adjusted properly, it can cause your problem.
