Winchester 54 SNIPERS MATCH $7.5K US on GI
Are these as rare as the gun seller says they are he reckons he has only seen one other in collecting Winnies for 30 years and he owns that one.

I don't believe there is any info that would suggest that a 54 was ever used as a sniper rifle.

IIRC there was a factory model of the 54 called the "snipers match", and it didn't survive the transition over to model 70 production (or if it did the designation was killed off within the first few years?),
Was pretty much equivalent to the later Model 70 "Bull Gun".
.....and yes Cinders, it is "GLORIOUS"

Well it didn't take this non-expert that long to find a couple of others. The guy needs a reality check. I know 5/8ths of FA about Winchesters, so it took me a full 30 seconds to find this:
