The Second Picture
The second picture is interesting for a number of reasons.
There are no insignia on the uniforms, rank, unit designation or qualification badges.
Those boots have not seen any polish for a very long time.
The uniforms look as though they just came out of duffle bags and are wrinkled.
As they are at ease you can see that the guys who care about their rifles have them resting on the tops of their boots to keep them off the muddy ground as much as possible. (I did that)
All three pictures are interesting and you are correct they are not as sharp as the troops being inspected by Ike.

In the third picture, the guy standing next to his buddies upraised rifle seems to be saying," Nope! You missed that squirrel completely".
