They must be rare if no one has an idea about them.

You're right! We had loads of captured Chinese ones from the VC hierachy. Even had instructions of where they were to be backloaded to (presumably to be examined, refurbished and subsequently taken on charge for re-issue). But never saw or heard of a Soviet issue No2. Would like better pics of the backsight bed area
What does Clive Law have to say about this/these

He comes onto this forum occasionally. Anyone else know his contact details?

Did you ever learn more about this presumably USSR contract No2 pistol BP?
Anyone else in forumland shead any light onto this mysterious beast?

Yes, Clive got in touch on another forum. He can't be 100% sure without inspecting it in person but he thinks there's something odd about it. I'm not sure either way, I don't know why it would have been faked, the markings aren't amateur that's for sure. The serial number is SU0024 but it only appears on the slide and this makes me wonder as it has been through a Enfield FTR and I'm 99.9% sure they would have marked the frame (If it hadn't previously been) with the serial number or given it a new one. Also, the serial number isn't in a normal format, if it had been a Russian contract, you would expect it to follow the normal format of 0SU24 just like the 0CH24 or 0T24 used on the Chinese and Other contracts. The barrel looks like a replacement (Marked 9mm Luger) so has no bearing on what it is.
The photos are saved on the forum so if any further information comes to light, they are still there as a reference.

I think that the body is from a different pistol to the slide. Worth measuring the body to ascertain whether it has been cleaned/linished to eliminate a previous serial number. After all, the BODY is the master component and certainly in the UK, was never available as a spare part
I wouldn't necessarily agree that the SU serial number would be prefixed by O and there are plenty of precedents for this. When you are buying, you dictate! When we were buying L9's, we told them what format we wanted. Same as L7's et al......

sure is an interesting piece , i had scoured clives book and got nothing - thats why i have not posted anything , glad he didnt say "...ITS ON PAGE XXx..." i would have felt a real fool , could it have been a presentation or export/import marking ? it almost looks an original roll marking - very uniform and well lined up , not so much like a stamping
maybe a cold war spy piece ....? OK , i was getting carried away there ,
