    Can someone interpret these stock markings for me

    I cannot seem to run them down.

    Could be Yougoslav, but I think they are Rumanian - post war.

    They look very similar to some unit markings you see on Mauser bayonets...???

    Bear in mind that this is just a guess, but I would not be surprised if it isn't an abbreviation for Jagd Regiment 46, 12 Kompanie, Nummer 1, the unit property mark.

    Good try Paul S. Could be right.

    But in 1914 the Jaeger were organized in batallions of 4 companies, not regiments, ruling out a company 12. So the J is probably an example of the Germanicon use of a capital J instead of I, to avoid confusion with the number 1.So I think the more likely interpretations is:
    Infanterie Regiment 46, 12 Kompanie, Nummer 1.

    But I could be wrong! It would be helpful to know exactly what type of (presumably) Mauser this is.
