East Taylor handguards
Just received a 1899 carbine handguard from E. Taylor. I took off the rear sight and when I slide the handguard back it will not go over the receiver end. I cant take any material off the underside because they milled it off center and flush with the ring of the receiver. Am I correct in thinking this should just slide over the ring or front of the receiver?

Yes, contact them, take pics. He does take them back, but grudgingly. Generally, they are very good quality, a lot better than some others I have bought, for instance one from S&S that was some sort of soft wood that soaked up stain like a sponge and needed a lot of sanding to get anywhere near right. Good enough for a faux Krag I'm building for my grandson, but nowhere near good enough to put on an original. In Taylor's defense, anytime you mass produce something, there's going to be an occasional bad one get past quality control.
