The tunic really is impressive and looks like it's brand new without a blemish of any kind. It smells like cedar so I think it must have spent many years in a cedar chest.

I did some more research and found what the inverted 'V' means on the sleeves.
The left sleeve is for years in overseas duty and the right sleeve is called a 'wound stripe'
This may help corroborate the casualty report I found for the name written inside the tunic.
