I liked the part "Suprise For Agressors"! Not much surprise there!!

Yeah,
The Navy League (it was their newsletter) was part of the battleship lobby. They couldn't see what carriers could possibly be used for, except maybe air cover for the battle line. Well, the Japanese were building **their** mega-BBs, we should build ours. Fortunately, someone in the Navy Department observed Pearl, Coral Sea and Midway, and actually learned.
We still built BBs, but they were fast. The Wisconsin class could keep up with a carrier task force moving at flank speed, which the canceled Montana class super-BBs probably would have had to struggle to do.
