    Guidebook for Marines

My13 year old discovered his Grandfather's Korean War era "Guidebook for Marines", and loves to study it. Problem is, it is falling apart, and I would like to preserve it before it gets any worse. Does anyone know where I can find another one, preferably a reproduction? The one I have is copyright 1950, and I would like the same if possible. It contains great information on the weapons in use at the time. Thanks for any assistance.

I have come across them at gun shows, but the older they are, the more they seem to cost. If you work with or have any former Marine's in your neighborhood, I would ask if they still have theirs, and would part with it.

Eric, Bless that 13 year old of yours. I still have my original as issued to me in 52 and the grandkids do as your boy, devour the material and the photos..The one grandson, 7 year old w /cerebral palsy is the biggest fan of the Marine Corps and insists he is going to be like "Chesty"
Warms my heart.I'll keep a hunt on for another guidebook and if found will email you. Al

Wow, great thread. Yes, I still have mine, it's dated July 1, 1960, but I had to apply tape to the edges several years ago. They are not made real sturdy.

It is cool that it covers all the weapons of the time but we were issued zeroxed copies of M-14 data. I still have these stuck in the back, but it too, like the rest of us, is getting worn out with age.

I gather that any issues that one may be able to find, will not be in perfect "as issued" condition.
