Bayonets Manufactured in South Africa during WW II
For your interest. These bayonets were manufactured in South Africa during the Second World War. Top row: Pat.1888 and Pat.1907 by the South African Railways. Bottom row Pat.1913 and Pat.1907 by AECO. All scabbards made by the Railways.

What markings did the S.A. manufactrers put on the blades + scab.'s?

Beautiful. South African made bayonets are the biggest hole in my bayonet collection. You have done a good job!

Wish i had the P13, I have examples of two different made 1907's and the P1888 but the 13 has eluded me so far.
My 88 is marked SAS SAR in a cross, both initials being for the South African Railroads in 1942
The 07's are marked SAR and AECO.
All these blades I understand are even hard to find in South Africa

i was unaware that SA made any P1913s , i knew vickers made some before they went into production in the states at winchester and remington , but i thought all production stopped after WWI
OH , untill the vietnam era ones were produced here in north america

THey didnt make many, and they have the shorter 10" blade, but it is a new made blade not a shortened one. Bit like the Ozzie Owen but with the higher muzzle ring

As far as I know they were all new made, but quality is not brilliant.
