Same rifle as in the pic....help!!!

I looked at your picture and went hoorayyy finally.I have been trying to find out info on a strange enfield my wifes father gave me years ago.From your picture the man in the front row looks to be carrying the same enfield I have.Mine is a 1943 enfield number 4 mark 1*I believe savage.It looks exactly like that rifle.Cut down forepiece,tapered barrel no front sights.No charger riser.I would LOVE any more info I could find on this!!!

when you reply you will see a list of things above the Reply box. Amongst things like font sizes and stuff you will see a paper clip ( to the right of the smiley faces ). That allows you to attach files to the thread. Do this and attach your picture.

If you could sir please give me some more info on the rifle your grandfather is holding.I have an enfield given to me by my wifes father that look like the exact same rifle.It has the cut down front piece pistol grip buttstock with rubber buttpad.No charger riser and a cut down 21 inch tapered barrelwith I believe the one in five twist

I read your post and opened your pic and I believe I got an answer Ive been looking for for years.I have a 1943 enfield number 4 mark1* given to me by my father in law many years ago.It has a cut down front piece pistol grip buttstock with rubber buttpad,no charger riser, and a cut down tapered 21 inch 1 in 5 twist barrel looking almost exactly like the one your grandfather is holding.I would love any info you can find on this rifle.I've been trying to find out why I couldnt find it anywhere I looked forever.

There is no battle sight on yours and the barrel looks to be much heavier. Do you have any close up pics of the stamps to see when the barrel was installed?

NO there is no battle sight on this one.I believe the front battle sight was drilled and tapped this barrel is smooth.as far as the ident markings,this one has a serial number of 41c67xx and was produced in 5 of 43 same date marked on barrel as well as the plate.And as far as the barrel taper it goes from approx 1.2 inches at the base of the barrel down to .6 at the end on the taper.Ive got more pictures of the ident plate and barrel marking and bolt markings and closer pic of the buttstock and pad Ill load when I get a chance.Only thing wrong I wish hadnt happened is he stripped it down to be refinished but got ill and never got to it and I wanted to find out more about this thing before I invested a lot of time and money in it it might not be worth and just oil it good and leave like it is.With this stock it kinda looks nice stipped and shined up

The stocks on your rifle appear to be commercial production, possibly Fajen. Styling is a bit more pronounced than the Canadian version, but it's been a while since I had one with which to compare. Also the pistol grip cap is a commercial indicator. Forestock seems to have an upper recess as a finger groove, but it's hard to tell even with the photo at maximum size.

Also, compare the recoil pad holes to the ones visible on the two rifles on the right in the photo in post #1. They were different than most pads seen elsewhere. (BTW, there is currently a rifle like the one on the extreme right in Australia, but it may still be missing the scope.)

If the rifle in post 5 is or has been a sniper rifle of any sort, then, without putting too fine a point on it and spoeaking from the hip, then I'm a piccolo player. Just a heavily sportered No4 and the amount of meat removed would render its accuracy useless. Just my thoughts as a bit part amateur
