The Western Front, Then and Now

I have this interesting book, published in 1938, containing many black and white images of the Western Front photographed in 1918 and again in 1938. My copy was purchased new by my grandfather and came to me via my late father but there are currently a number of copies for sale on eBay Uk at very reasonable prices.

Some of the images contained in the book show some of the carnage and complete devastation that had occurred on the Western Front by 1918 and also show how the same places were rapidly rebuilt and reconstructed in the following 20 years. It is amazing how much reconstruction work was completed in just 20 years.
