A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Spoke with the seller on Tuesday, he will not consider offers under $4000.

Describes the rifle as being in almost "unfired" condition.

Whilst I would like one, at $4k, there are others higher on my bucket list.

I get the feeling the rifle is a miniature rifle club conversion of a BSA commercial rifle.... a milsurp, it aint.... would be good to get it and look at it to be sure... but never for that money..

Don't get me wrong, I want it... but it isn't worth any more than $400 + the magazine to me. My offer reflected that... I wished him luck and thanked him for his time.

Ok so he won't take under 4000. Why doesn't he just advertise it as that so we can all laugh and get on with our business. He hasn't even got the description right.

The last PH mag sold in Australiaicon on that site went for 900 bucks.

I may have been a little hasty above... not sure which way to jump with the information on hand, he did say it had no royal cypher, only marked BSA on the butt socket, but it must have the date on it somewhere, he's advertising it as a 1908 rifle.... He said the action was cleaned off, but if that had been the case, the BSA would have gone too.... The butt has a wooden plug in the marking disc hole, he said it was there "from new" which raised the eyebrows again.... the owner told me he specifically collected miniature rifle club rifles....
..... just seems something isn't right... besides the price

Anyway, I wonder if we will be welcoming a new member at some time soon, showing off the trainer he just gave his kidney for....

Wonder if the bolt was modified to work with the magazine he bought? It's not just a simple slap in the magazine deal.

Well, another 1416 owner. But who knows what a 1416 is, they were awfull careless with that number. Mine is a sporter with a ramp front sight, Schnabel foreend and double set trigger. $70 USD in Germanyicon in 1968. Never have found it in a catalog.

A couple of things folks ...

First, you should be very careful about accessing that site and I would recommend you avoid it altogether for now, until Google clears the warnings about using it. Their site may be infected with malware or have been attacked by a redirection virus that Google has detected. (see pics)

If you can't avoid it, then be sure not to leave any personal information ie: credit card data on it until they clean it up and Google lifts the warnings.

Second, for those members that wish to be cautious until the site's webmaster addresses Google's threat warnings, here's the advertisement including the pic that everyone is referring to.
