Neat trick for shipping Carbines, Garand

I have shipped or been shipped a few Carbines or Garands where the handle of the slide/op rod was sticking through the cardboard box. A quick fix for this is to cut off the top inch or so of a plastic water or soda bottle (the part the cap screws onto) and place that over the handle. Cut it so it's flush with the top of the handle and no more sticking through the cardboard! You just have to secure it so it doesn't fall off.

Do the pro's (CMPicon) use just a bigger box, or do they disassemble the carbine partially? I've never received a long-gun through the mail...
