ww2 Ishapore Enfield features?
I am looking at getting a 1943 Ishapore No.1 mkIII*. It seems to be all original, but it has a cross bolt through the stock. Does anyone know when they started doing that? Most I have heard about it is that they added those to rifles refurbished and reissued after the war. Any thoughts? Thanks,
Schwehn

I've had a '43 and a '44 with the cross-bolt. The '44 definitely seems 100% all-original, as all numbers match and the original barrel is mint. 1943 would seem reasonable for the introduction of the bolt on new production rifles - they were in the middle of war production and may have run short of the better quality woods for stock work.
