Help Identifying Object
My son bought this at a gun show this weekend and we would love some help trying to identify it. I put it next to a can so you can see the size of it. My son is starting to collect a few of these kind of things. Thanks.

Looks like a can of diced tomatoes, probably post-war production

At first, I thought it was an old distributor cap....
Is it made out of some kind of bakelite type material?

I'm not sure but I think it is some kind of photographic film canister. I have one just like it and I think my dad told me that was what it was.

Sold by Princess Auto and others about 30 plus years ago....use unknown, but were Canadian military surplus. Suspect they were for film. Still have a few and good for small part storage.
