    Exclamation

Only Combat Engineers and Anti-Tank gun (towed) units got the camo uniforms. They were recalled in less than a month if I remember correctly.
The Infantry was shooting at them because the word didn't get around and all they had ever seen in camo was Germanicon.

I have a set of the army cammo's so I did a little research on what units worn them and these are the units that I found used them in the ETO. The 41st Armd Inf/48th Medical Battalion/17th Engineers and the 82nd Recon of the 2nd armored and the 30th Infantry. Some Army units who wore them in the PTO, were the 6th Infantry, 32nd Infantry, 40th and 43rd Infantry Divs.
I heard the same story about being shot at because they looked like SS but somewhere I also read that they actually wore them until they were worn out and were just replaced with regular fatigues as it was determined they were no great advanage over the regular OD color uniforms or enough for the total adoption and replacement of the regular uniforms. So don't know which story is true. Ray
