Value of Rock Island 1903
Found in local gunshop on consignment. Priced at $700. Serial number in the 43000 range. Looks original at first glance but that's about all I did today...glance at it. Stock is questionable since no marking were visible, but wood is nice enough looking. Didn't check barrel date but if you folks think that this price could be reasonable, depending upon certain details, I'll investigate further.
If outrageous for a low-number 1903, please advise. If this is the seller I think it is, the prices are almost always on the high side, but usually not off the charts.

"The devil is in the details". If a mixmaster with WWII barrel, replacement non-grasping groove stock, refinished, etc. - the price is too high by $250-300.
If it has a correct barrel, GG stock and correct parts, well-worth the price and may be a steal.
More information is needed.
