Uf 55 help please.
Hello, new here as of today, very cool website! My boss yesterday gave me this gun yesterday while cleaning up his gun safe yesterday, his father who collected LOTS of guns had owned it but his life was cut short in a mid air collision with another plane back in 97, so who knows when he got it. Thing looks pretty much new, and possibly unfired as I see a little bit of cosmoline in the chamber area, and gun still has a tag on a string attached to it with a serial number, maybe came from a gun show? Iv tried adding some pictures to get your opinion as to what it might be worth. Thanks for any help.William

Nice! No one ever gives me things like that. I'm jealous.

Yeah,I was shocked.I'm wondering,so if not worth much, maybe I should then shoot?pictures do it no justice, gun is literally brand new looking no dings, bluing wear or anything! Small importer engraving going down the muzzle, Century arms?? Does this detract from price.is this gun refurbished by century?thanks

It looks brand new factory fresh to me as many were 20 years ago when they were imported. Most taken out of the wrap but the label you show is the Fazakerley control label. Worth a lot of money.

Manufactured in 1955 at the Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley (Near Liverpool)
Worth keeping and worth shooting.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

You could shoot it. I might not shoot it but, I have others to shoot so, I could restrain myself. Maybe. I don't know.

leadtag101: I have one exactly like it- unwrapped but not cleaned up. I plan to very carefully clean it and, probably, shoot it. I'm assuming turpentine would be the best thing to use for cleaning the inside of the forend/ handguards, followed by a good soak in raw linseed oil in my PVC pipe soaker.

I'd not soak the wood in it, just wipe it down with a rag.
