M1 Carbine Stripper Clip
I would like to know when the type1 stripper clip for the M1 Carbine came into service. I am thinking that it is post WW 2. If anyone knows what year, please let me know.

I cannot be sure when they first were manufactured, but they were still under development in 1946.

I just keep wondering why the US military took so long to issue strippers f/the carbine? Every other US issued long arm had them in WWII, didn't they? Imagine the excitement you'd feel as you sat in a shallow hole, maybe under fire from an MG42, as you slowly fed 15 rounds into your carbine mag. Whet the HELL was the Pentagon THINKING? JMHO, of course.

Actually the only other small arms that had them for use was the 03 series. That was because the clip fit the top of the receiver and already existed. The carbine had no such cut, thus needed an external loader for use with magazines.
The BAR, which used the 03 stripper clip, did not have its magazine loader standardized until very late, circa mid 1945.
Thus the carbine stripper clip and loader were under development after the war ended.
The SMG's never had stripper clips developed but the M3 series did have a loader to aid in loading .45 ammo against a very strong magazine follower. The M3A1 had the loader as part of its wire stock.
The Thompson never had stripper clips, nor a loader.
