1911 barrel centering in stock
Picked up a 1911 at a local gun show, cleaned up pretty good but I noticed that the barrel doesn't appear to be centered in the barrel channel. It touches on one side of the aluminum collar as well. Seems to fit securly in the stock with no movement. I have not shot the gun yet, so I don't know how it shoots.
So I guess my question is shouldn't it sit down the center of the barrel channel? Is there a way to correct his? Shims?
Thanks for any input.

I have a 1911 and the barrel is centered in the channel. Maybe your forestock is slightly warped due to the age/long time storage?
If it is maybe you want to try this: http://theswissriflesdotcommessagebo...-stock-forearm

Warped stock fix
You may also want to google up utube with Jack Rowe then find the one where he bends a wrist on a shotgun stock using a 100% cotton(has to be 100% cotton)rag soaked in Raw linseed oil wrapped around the stock and heats it over a gas flame do not panic about this as it works on a permanent basis I think one of the forumers here has tried it on a warped stock with success. Here they are found them for you.
Jack passed away in Nov 2015 a sad loss to the industry as not many of his caliber Master gunsmith would be remaining today.
