Trapdoor Carbine S/N 139725
I have a trapdoor carbine s/n 139725 which appears to have been built in 1880 by serial number.HOWEVER it has ALSO been upgraded to a "C" marked 1884"Buffington" rear sight and ALSO sports that 1890 front band that incorporates a hump that prevents the carbine from hanging up when you insert it in a boot or scabbard.
The carbine is in literally brand new condition and has an unmarked replacement stock.Bore is like a mirror.I am sure that it is an arsenal overhaul probably for the Spanish American War. But, taking all I have related into consideration what would the CURRENT fair market value be ? The carbine is literally as new and in all probability came from the Vermont Militia/National Guard prior to WWI.
I need an actual value for insurance purposes more than anything else.Your input will be appreciated.JR

Carbine value?
Without pictrures, you have described a parts gun. It is unlikely that any carbine would have been arsenal rebulit with a new stock and not marked in some manner. Anyone that would evaluate it without pictures is just taking a shot in the dark.
