Things My Father Left
My dad served on the USS Markab AD-21 in the Pacific in the later stages of WWII. Going through some of his things I have his Navy issue flashlight and a Zippo lighter that has his initials on one side and an etching of the Eniwetok Atoll. Unknown if the lighter was made while he still served or after he came home, all his records were lost in the St. Louis Veterans Admin fire. On another note I learned after I was married that my wife's father also served on the Markab (weird), we have his bosun's whistle, both of our father's had already died by the time we married in 1978.

I also found a pin for Joint Task Force Seven that I learned came from Operation Castle, see
Operation Castle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dad wasn't in the service then so I have no idea where he acquired this pin.

And lastly I have pictured some Japanese pins that I found in his memorabilia, I only ID'd 1 or 2, does anyone have a link where I can ID more of them? Hope you enjoy a bit of this history I have.

Very nice momentos. May I suggest you lable them well with anything you know about them so they can along to someone in your next generation who will preserve and appricate them like you obviously do. To much of this type of family momentos ends up in the trash or a garage sale. Very intereresting story about your fathers.
