I'm sure PL will be along soon to give his usual 'ringing endorsement' of this tool.

    HOW MUCH !!!!!
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

You're right AdeE! Best use for that tool is as a fishing weight for someone you don't like. Load of useless rubbish! In fact it was so bad that they quickly designed another variant - that was even worse!

The best design is a two piece set that was issued to Instrument shops. The first part was an angled claw/key used to nip up the outer lead screw locking ring and the second part was to turn the inner, brass lead screw. Bore sight to get it sort-of on target. Nip up lead screw locking rings with 1st tool. Nip up means nip up. Not jumbo jet wheel nut stuff for heavens sake....., just nip up! Set range to distance chosen to zero and deflection at 0. Shoot a few shots and get it on target using the two well known forumlae. Now fine tune using INNER tool on lead screws. When done, use angled claw/key to lock up. Lock up = just a tad over nip-up. but notice no mention of jumbo jet wheel nut torque figures

It really is as simple as that. I think both tools are shown at the back of the little book

Then there is the No1 Mk1 adjuster.

    Also used to castrate bulls.

See what I mean.......... A classic example of '....where there's a will, someone will find a difficult way'.

And to think that if you did exactly as the book explained but njipped up the lead screw lock nut you could forget all the crap and that tool. Then just lock it up with the hooked/claw spanner. It's like buying a complicated 4 ton trolley jack for your car when a small bottle jack is more than adequate for what you need....... AND it'll fit in the boot (the trunk) too!
