    My New Type 99

    Hey all,

I finally got a job after a long search and decided to congratulate myself with a new Japaneseicon rifle. I found this one on gunbroker and immediately fell in love with it. I love its "been there, done that" look and the price was right as i was just looking for something to be a shooter.

Congratulations! I don't know what it is but there is something about a Japanese Arisakaicon that is appealing. It might be they were the first rifles I started to collect.

Looks good. If it needs the accessories, and you don't mind repros, Sarco has both the dust cover and the monopod. Aircraft sights you'll have to look around for.

Kar98, That's a nice early war Nagoya. What series? It doesn't look to have been messed with. Are the screws still staked? It really has the WWII used look to it. The things I like about the T99's are:
    1) You can still afford to collect them.
    2) They have some unexplainable artistic (Japaneseicon art deco) /antique eye appeal. The wood color and finish and bruising add to the aura
    3) The bores are chrome plated and almost always like new.
    4) The action strength. I'm not afraid to shoot them at all.

Nice rifle and the price was a steal!

It looks to be a series 2 which puts its date of manufacture somewhere between april and august of 1942.

I dont know if the screws are staked as it is still in transit. Should be here mid week.

I was surprised nobody outbid me. That thing clearly has some stories to tell

You know, i think i am going to just leave it as is. I kind of like that it doesn't have any mismatched accessories on ir
