    two tone M1 helmet net

I believe these were first issued in 1943 and used in joint operations with US and Canadianicon troops in the Aleutian Islands

Anyone have any additional information as I think these helmet nets (two tone color) were also used in European operations tooAttachment 49394Attachment 49395

I have a couple I bought years ago that were dark brown and OD. From what I have been told these were made for the War Effort by the women of Great Britainicon . I think they were randomly dyed different colors. I think I still have a two toner somewhere in my pile of gear. I also have an American made Helmet net that came with a Bungee Band attached . These American Nets were used around '44 as they can be seen in late war photo's. These late war American Nets were also used by the Frenchicon Foreign Legion in Indo-China .

That makes me wonder if those are Canadianicon made. There is a site called Trigger Time by Mark Bando about the 101st ABN. He did a study on the grid sizes on the Helmet Nets (not color though) on some of his Photo's he has . As a kid we would look for old fishing nets for our Surplus Store Helmets. Most of the Netting had nylon in them and never looked right. I was even discerning back then, scary !

We had these nets in giant size for vehicles when I was young. They didn't last too well as they tore. They were exactly what you have here but I don't believe they were WW2 issue. Anyway, they were replaced in the 70s and we changed the netting completely. These were scrapped and I took a couple to cut up for neck scarves and head veils and such. Wish I'd known, I could have sold them these days...
    Regards, Jim

This one is also difficult to locate any information (like the two tone helmet net) it is post WW2 I believe. It is made for the M1icon helmet and is not marked, it came from a helmet that was in the 131 Inf Bat 33 rd Div

I believe that is part of a Jungle Mosquito net that fit over the Helmet. I have a complete one that is a WWII issue . I think they cut the mesh part off leaving the cover on top.
